Well, Hello There

It's the first day that I can move without every joint in my body creaking in protest nor my head spinning. This feverish coughing bug diligently made its way through T1, then T2, then me. The fever's gone, & I'm left with a supremely stuffy head. Compared to that all-over body ache, I'll take this congestion gladly.

On a training note - my taper has been taken to quite the extreme. No activity in five days. FIVE!! So much for staying sharp during taper.

Lemme take that back. Four days. I cleaned this cesspool top to bottom today in an attempt to rid ourselves of any lingering cooties*. I'm counting that as cross training. When I spend an entire day cleaning and my back is left all achy & whatnot, I need to get some cross training credit for it.

*Anyone ever use tea tree oil for cleaning? I ran out of disinfectant wipes so I used tea tree oil mixed with water in a squirt bottle instead. The stuff smells really good & is supposed to be a natural disinfectant. It didn't leave streak marks on my glass either. Good stuff.

anything that leaves you feeling achy is cross-training. :-)

Ugh. So sorry. You've put in all the work already and at least it'll be out of your system come race day. Tea tree oil in a spray bottle? Very clever! Def. counts as cross training. You probably burned a few hundred calories at least.

I've counted many things as cross training...marching band, waitressing, clinicals...cleaning definitely contributes to that!

Well at least you avoided all the should I run? questions that come up during the taper madness, you are just simplifying! :)

I'm in week 5 of not running, due to complications from the flu; longest "vacation" in 20 years. Best of luck in the upcoming race!

very cool use of tea tree oil. you can also use a vinegar/water mix, but i don't think the smell is as good.

glad you're feeling better! one of mine went down yesterday with a bug. but today she's feeling good enough to come bring it to me! oh boy!

Oh no, not you, too. At least we got it during taper and not in the midst of training or race day!

I can't wait to join the taper wagon in about a week from now!!! Not like my day-to-day training will change much, but at least no more really, really long runs!

Cleaning definitely counts as a workout. Surely you broke a sweat!

I've never tried tea tree oil, but heard about it and want to start using it. Where did you buy it? What kind? (A quick search shows me lots of options!)

Cleaning always counts as training. I have no idea about the cleaning oil though.
