Folks around here would know who she is - she's Cecily Tynan, one of our local
Honestly, I don't watch the news all that much - it gets pretty depressing. And I get my weather on-line or on my phone, so I don't have much use for weather reports either. BUT, I do pay attention to Ms. Tynan because of my wicked girl crush.
That and I'd love to be as fast as her one day1:
- Kona Ironman Triathlon 2003 in 10:51:21
- Broad Street Run 10 Mile 2009 in 1:05:23
- Chicago Marathon 1998 in 3:01:47 (couldn't find a more recent marathon time in my Athlinks stalking2)
I'll keep watching her on TV, and keep our Facebook "friendship" flourishing because one day, I swear she's going to divulge the secret to her speediness on air or as a status update, like maybe how a daily pint of Ben & Jerry's is a key staple to her training diet. Maybe I can get some of her speediness through osmosis.
Wishful thinking.

Back to reality - I got bored with my slowpokity running so I decided to go for some Yasso 800s. I went for four reps, and picked the random pace of 4:10 (sounds good with my last marathon time being 4:25, right?). Being the unprepared dumb $h*t that I am, I didn't realize that had I pushed just a wee bit harder, I would've hit the MacMillan paces (3:48 - 3:59) that would (hopefully) get me to a sub-2 HM:
#1 4:03 - fail
#2 4:00 - fail
#3 3:58
#4 4:00 - fail
Duh. Unless I really stretch and compute that the half-mile intervals that I set in my Garmin is actually longer than a for-real 800 meters (0.497 mile) which would translate to:
#1 4:01 - fail
#2 3:59
#3 3:57
#4 3:59
No need to tell me I'm a dork.
I already know.
1 Right.
2 I suck as a stalker. We ran in at least the same two races this year (Ocean Drive & Turtle Trot), but I never even knew she was there until well after the fact, so no sightings or begging for a pic. Not like I could have anyway - she was probably all rehydrated, fed, showered, & back in Philadelphia by the time I crossed the finish.

I was just watching her tonight wondering how she does it!!
OMG!! I grew up watching her! She always came on right after one of my favorite shows!
She's awesome!! How is it fair that my arms are as big as her thighs?!?
Definite room for improvement on those stalking skills.
Too funny about the Yasso 800's.
One year at the Ironman world championship's the man that won the race, had flown back to Germany while the others were still out on the course so I don't suppose those people had much luck if they were trying to do some stalking.
A few more well timed Yasso 800's and you will be in the game :)
The ability to know stalking victims pre-race is what separates amatuers (like you) from professionals (like me). Although it could help that my races post the entrant names and typically there are only about 100 or at most 200 of us!
Oh yeah the bib numbers are frequently alphabetical making it that much easier to happen to be right near people (once I was right next to Mike Malinin of the Goo Goo dolls in bib number! I married well by picking Mr. Massie:-)
I have never done Yasso 800's. You will have to tell me if they work out. Maybe we can each train our own way and aim for a 4:10 and run together(if your goal race is Richmond). Whoever breaks down/slows down first has to stop mid-course and buy the other one a beer, wine, sangria, bloody mary or perhaps even a fresh hot Krispy Kreme Donut!

Wow now I have a girl crush too. She just looks fast.
I did see her at the turtle trot, but I didnt want to ask her for a pic. I did snap one of her from a distance.
I completely forgot what you wrote in your post, I kept going back to the photos to now start my girl crush! NICE shoulders-damn! I love her! Biatch!
I know why she's fast. She makes $600,000 a year, and she can PAY someone to make her fast. No fair.

Now that you have a subject to artfully stalk, you can hone those skills. Think checking race registrations lists beforehand, sending out facebook events, you could go super stalker!
It's good to have aspirations!
Good work on the nerdy 800's too :)
How often to weather chicks work? Like 10 minutes a day? If you and I had that kind of time, we'd be hella fast too. :o)
Totally have a girl crush on her too! holy cow she's amazing. 3:01 is freaking rockin, and a job and 2 kids. drool.
I saw that 3:01 and my jaw dropped. Okay, my jaw dropped long before that but that number totally put it all into perspective.
Maybe I can pay her to pace me in NYC...on second thought...no, I'm not yet worthy!
Thanks for sharing...but seriously, you need to work on those stalking skills...
Wow she looks amazing on that bike!
she is freakin' amazing! i don't think i can decide between having her shoulders/abs or that marathon pr!
i suck at calculating the breakdown of intervals to know what i should hit every 200 or 400 in order to hit my goal time. whatever, overrated.
i think your 800s were great! it's still early on and you are right there on the edge. gotta get used to the feel of them again. i'm sure next time around you'll shave off those few seconds.
I guess I'm the only one who looked at that first picture and thought I would TOTALLY tap that wiry guy, even if he DOES wear sports bras! ...
Then it turns out it was a chick and I was all like, "Woo-hoo! That totally ups my odds of tapping that @$$ from zero to zero-point-zero-zero-one! I'm practically smoking a post-coital cigarette RIGHT NOW!1!"
You don't get your on-line weather from Xenia?
You WHOO-WER!1!
I totally have a girl crush now too. Look at how beautiful her shoulders are n that first pic! Wow, she's incredible!
She looks way too happy and skinny. No way in hell that woman eats junk food.
And G, thanks for the laughs this morning. They are much needed and appreciated.
Your girl is really impressive. Who would have thought a weather girl would rock.
Wow, thanks for posting about the Yasso 800s...never heard of that.
you're a dork. there, i said it anyway. i'm a dork too, it's ok.
well, you're a better runner than a stalker :)
Clearly, we are in the wrong business.
Nice 800s!
I have lots of girl crushes but don't worry, I wont steal her away from you:) She is HOT!!
Who cares about missing the speedwork times. You still got a killer workout. even when its bad - it's good!
Well you do have something in common. You both smile in your race pics!
wow can i be her too when i grow up?
Must be hard to spot ANYONE at any race...
I can understand your girl crush - she looks awesome. And two kids, too? Bitch.
1) Now I think I have a girl crush, too.
2) I would totally go for set #2 on the 800s.
If your goal was Yassos you beat them! If I get the article, then if you can get up to 10 of those in one workout in-or-under 4:10 then you'll hit a 4:10 marathon time. I guess you're on track already!
Wow, she's amazing! I'd love to have arms and shoulders like that!
Great job on the yasso's. You are totally poised to do a sub-2 half.
MCM Mama
Wow! 3:01 marathon??? I know even if I spent all day training, I'd never be as fast as that!
Gawd, I'd kill to look like that. I wonder how old she is? Bet she's not a Grandma, like ME!!!!!
i think yassoo 800s would kill me.
I am always in awe of shoulders like that. And abs. And legs. And probably a$$ too.
I don't know her, but I really am amazed at any woman with abs like that..and anyone who can do Yasso's..just not my fav
You made me laugh, thank you :-) I think it is healthy to stalk ;-) haha!
Good job on the Yassos!
Now I will stalk her as well. Thanks. Those bushes outside her house are going to get awfully crowded.
Hmmmm... I need to try Yasso someday. Oh that weather chick looks hot. Its too bad that I am not in the Philly region.
She is one hot weatherman!! I'm amazed.
Now I have a girl crush on her and I don't even see her everyday like YOU do! Wow, shredded!
Man, she is so fit! I am finding people like that so inspiring!
