Odds & Ends

Slowly, but surely. Driving myself CRAZAY...
But at least I see Denise has been doing the same thing!

  • Shorts or tights?
  • My back was hurting the entire week last week. I kept thinking it would go away on it's own. Finally went to the chiro on Friday so he could realign me. It's like magic, I tell ya!
  • If I keep my right knee pointed out when doing anything with my quads (steps, walking, getting up), my right knee doesn't hurt. I'll definitely keep it easy this week. And whatever activity I do, I'll channel my inner penguin, not pigeon.
  • Benefit of working in the hospital - someone comes through and offers flu shots. Now who can pass that up? Apparently, not me. I got the darn shot, then belatedly remembered that I only have 7 days to get over any sort of reaction/illness from it. I'm a dumb donkey.
  • MIL will graciously watch the rugrats while we head up to Philly on Saturday. With that in mind...
Blogmie meet up anyone?
Anyone?
Or is this not an East Coast thing?

Here are my thoughts:

  • Unfortunately, the pasta dinner is not an option for me. With South Philly right there, dear hub won't go for anything else. Of course the pasta dinner is less about the food and more about the company & talks (then I really can't drag dear hub to that - he can't stand any more runner talk. That's what you're here for, remember?).
  • We can do a quick meet up at the expo. That way since I'm if you're afraid that I've you've revealed too much about my luteal phase your life as it is on this supposed-to-be-anonymous blogosphere, a quick "hello" & "nice to meet you" won't be enough to undo the carefully constructed image that I you have put out on my your blog.
  • Cocktails someplace close to the expo. Same reasoning as above, except if I you do end up exposing myself yourself as the uncool dorky dork I really am you really are, either I you can blame such revelation on the alcohol; or I you can buy enough drinks for the group so no one remembers.
Lemme know.

PS - FunRunners also welcome, as long as you're old enough to drink.

Gents - turn away. Ladies - thank you for the well wishes. Your pleas have brought about AF's timely arrival. WHEW!

I'd wear tights because I assume you're running when it's closer to the low of 32 than the high of 45.

AAAhhh!! I'm going nuts over here!! I'm wearing tights, absolutely. But I'm always FROZEN! Also wearing a long sleeve shirt and my mizuno gloves (these things are magical). I'd be up for meeting up!! Are you leaving town after the marathon? My running club is meeting on the art museum steps before the race starts and going out after the run around 3pm.

I would definately wear shorts. I wore shorts for Hamilton and it was a similar temperature and I was warm. I also wore shorts and long sleeve there last year and it was fine.
I didn't know you were running Philly too! I would definately love to meet up. I am staying at the Mariott downtown. Email me at

Hey, sister, don't sweat what to wear yet. This far out, "meteorology" is not a science; it's a coin toss. Wait to see what they say 2-3 days before.

That said, I think running 26 miles will make you quite warm. Better you start out a little cold than too toasty and end up overheated. That'll affect your performance and possibly more.

The drive to CRAZAY is quite nice, isn't it? I do it myself often as I can.

As an ex-Philadelphian, I beg you, do NOT do anything cliché, like run up the Art Museum Steps and do a victory dance.

Little known fact about that Art Museum: There's art inside. Most tourists never realize that. They just think Rocky has a really nice house.

Never heard of a blogmie meetup, but I've never travelled to a race. Good luck, and enjoy the experience!

Deciding what to wear is always a problem. Wear what you normally do. Seems pretty chilly, I would go for the tights.

HAHA! Wish I could go too!

I'm a big fan of shorts or a skirt unless it's lower than 35 for more than 80% of the run. I don't know what it is about tights that throw me off but they just irritate me.

Good luck!

Isn't weather obsessing fun? :o)

I'm wearing shorts, but it'll be warmer in Kansas than on the east coast. Hopefully you find some running buddies to meet!

Ooh the countdown begins. Good luck! I would recommend tights.

ROFLMAO! Ooohhhh girl if I was rollin into Philly you know I'd be all up on meeting ;-) I hope you get to stalk some Blogger peeps.

Oy, I'd probably do a combo. Wear crappy $2 Walmart sweat pants with shorts underneath and then ditch the pants on the side of the road/trash when I had too. I know for me, I'd probably get hot in the later miles when the temps start to rise.

I'm not a big tights fan for races however I do use them on long runs at the temperature that your race is expecting to be.

I swear, I almost titled my post "Odds & Ends". Ha, we couldn't have had the exact same post.

I am wearing capris for the race, but that's because I am from Miami and a big baby. LOL!

I'm game for a meetup. We're not planning on drinking until after the race (RIGHT after, ha) but maybe we can meet at the expo. We are going Saturday, when do you plan on going?

I say tights, and best of luck! I WISH I could meet up..I'm always down for embarassing myself around strangers, but alas I am stuck here in the south for another unseasonably warm Thanksgiving...can't wait to hear how you do!
